Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 1, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information JobSignal collects, how it is used, and the choices you have regarding your information.
Information you provide
When you build your profile, you can enter your target roles, preferred location, work preference, and an optional salary preference. When you add a job to track, you enter its title, company, and description, and optionally the number of applicants and how long ago it was posted. You choose what to enter — none of this is required beyond what's needed for JobSignal's core features to work.
Information from Google Sign-In
JobSignal uses Google Sign-In for authentication. When you sign in, JobSignal receives your name, email address, whether your email is verified, and your Google profile picture, along with an account identifier and sign-in tokens that let JobSignal keep you signed in. Your Google password is not received, and only the standard sign-in information Google provides for authentication is requested — not access to your Gmail, Drive, or other Google data.
Resume processing
When you upload a resume (PDF or DOCX), it's read into memory on JobSignal's server just long enough to extract its text and generate an analysis — it is never written to disk or any file storage. The original resume file and the raw extracted text are not permanently stored by JobSignal. What JobSignal does save to your profile is a structured summary produced by AI analysis — your listed skills, certifications, education, and experience — not the original document or its raw text.
Use of OpenAI
JobSignal uses OpenAI's API for three features:
- Resume analysis — the text extracted from your uploaded resume is sent to OpenAI to produce the structured skills/certifications/education/ experience summary described above.
- Job analysis — the job title, company, and description you enter are sent to OpenAI to produce a structured breakdown of responsibilities, requirements, and listing quality.
- Qualification matching — your structured resume summary and a job's structured analysis are sent to OpenAI together to assess how well your documented qualifications match that job's requirements.
Your name, email, and Google profile information are not sent to OpenAI as part of these requests — only resume and job-posting content. OpenAI processes this data to generate the results JobSignal shows you. JobSignal doesn't control, and can't make promises about, how OpenAI itself retains or uses data on its end — please refer to OpenAI's own privacy policy for that.
What JobSignal stores
JobSignal stores, in its database:
- Your account information: name, email, profile picture, and the sign-in tokens needed to authenticate you with Google.
- Your profile: target roles, preferred location, work preference, salary preference, and your structured resume analysis.
- The jobs you've added: title, company, description, and any AI-generated job analysis or qualification-fit results for them.
- Your authentication session record, used to keep you signed in.
Authentication & session data
When you sign in, JobSignal creates a session record tied to your account and gives your browser a session cookie that references it. This is used solely to recognize you as signed in and to authorize access to your own data — it is not used for tracking, advertising, or any purpose beyond keeping you logged in.
How JobSignal uses your information
JobSignal uses the information above to run its core features: building your profile, analyzing your resume, analyzing jobs you add, comparing the two to help you prioritize opportunities, and letting you review and manage what you've saved. Your information is not used for advertising, or for any purpose unrelated to providing you the product.
Third-party services
Two third-party services are involved in running JobSignal: Google (for sign-in) and OpenAI (for resume analysis, job analysis, and qualification matching, as described above). JobSignal also runs on third-party hosting and database infrastructure to operate at all, the way any web application does. Your information is not shared with advertising networks, data brokers, or any other third party.
Cookies & session authentication
JobSignal sets one cookie: the authentication session cookie described above, used only to keep you signed in. Tracking or advertising cookies are not set, and no other browser storage is used to track you across visits or sites.
Advertising, analytics & tracking
JobSignal does not currently use any analytics tools, advertising networks, or tracking pixels, and does not sell or share your information for advertising or marketing purposes.
Deleting your data
You can permanently delete your entire JobSignal account from the Delete Account section of your Profile page. Doing so permanently removes your JobSignal account, profile information, saved jobs, and saved resume analysis from JobSignal's database — this action cannot be undone. Deleting your JobSignal account does not delete information independently retained by Google, OpenAI, or the infrastructure providers used to operate JobSignal — it only removes the data JobSignal itself stores.
Job deletion & resume replacement
You can delete an individual saved job at any time; this permanently removes it, along with any AI analysis computed for it. Uploading a new resume replaces your previously saved resume analysis — the prior analysis isn't retained once replaced, and any qualification-fit results already computed for your saved jobs are cleared, since they were based on the resume you just replaced.
Data retention
JobSignal keeps your account and profile information for as long as your account exists, so it can continue to work for you. If you delete your account, the data described above is removed from JobSignal's database. JobSignal doesn't currently commit to a specific retention schedule beyond this, and the hosting and infrastructure providers used to operate JobSignal may retain their own operational logs or backups outside of JobSignal's own code and control.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated as JobSignal changes. If a material change is made, the effective date at the top of this page will be updated.
